My 250 Word Summary of Silkeborg Museum

What I realize about this building was that it looks more like a masterpice of artwork. Why I say this? Well basically looks more like a one of a kind ceramic sculpture which can be revealed by it's artistic looking blobs. In relation to Jorn's idea from the buddha cave temples, the design of the building made me inspired by the Ajanta and Ellora Buddha caves in Maharashtra, India when I discovered last year during my HSC trip. What I notice about this museum was that it clearly matches the aesthetics of a typical art gallery shown by the interior space such as the passage pathways moving like a snake as well as the exterior as stated before as a ceramic sculpture. What I was able to learn about this building was that it had similar design features from the Sydney Opera House from the second assignment, shown by the curved shell design, the never realized corridor system and the same design idea of geometrical shapes, curved lines and parabola looking curves. I also had a feeling that this museum had similar design characteristics from the design of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain by again it's use of Euclidean geometry as well as a series of convex and concave shapes. Overall, I reckon this building could have been built in real life and its how I feel when people see and explore architecture at different locations. The Silkeborg Museum also could have been a well known landmark around the world in real life and make the architect Jorn Utzon even more famous around the globe during this time period.

Research on Utzon

I was trying to search for the Richard Weston's book on Jorn Utzon but unfortunately, it didn't appear in the reserve section of the library. There was a book similar to that I found however, the book discusses about the houses he designed. Hopefully I should get the book ASAP so that I can find out some useful information of the Silkeborg Museum.

the reference can be found for this book if anyone wants to read-
R Weston, "The Utzon Library: Utzon And The New Tradition", The Danish Architectural Press, Copenhagen, 2005

Apart from that, I found some useful resources.

Assignment Two Website

My original plan was to communicate my ideas using Flash, however they were lot of errors with all my flash files so I had to create normal text boxes and rollover thumbnails.

Anyway here's my link for my Assignment 2 website:

One of my text boxes from the page, Rib Segments- Developed Concepts is not appearing on my webpage.

In case if it happens, I'll add in the link for the text box:
